In September 2007 I made my 7th trip to Japan; this time to have a show at the Takashimaya department store and for another show in northern Honshu. I have been extremely fortunate to spend so much time in this fascinating and soulful country.
The Japanese have a gentleness, intelligence, and appreciation for subtlety, detail, and beauty that is part of their living grace. Visits to their ancient shrines and temples have been one of the highlights of my life. Their incredible bookstores and magazines, their cultural support of all this is whimsical and quirky feeds the artist in me. If something there caught my eye or had a sense of place, I probably took a picture of it. I am a rapid collector of Japanese food packaging, so I am sharing some of these as well. I hope you enjoy some of the pictures I have taken and this peek into this fascinating country.
